About Trey and our family

We were blessed to have Trey as our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and most of all friend for 17 years. When you think of Trey several words come to mind. Most of all friend, funny, and laughter. Trey loved to laugh and loved making other laugh.

Trey's story

The Trey Foote Foundation was formed as a living memory to celebrate the life of Trey Foote. While his life on this earth was short his impact was great and his memory will live on forever. Trey was a great young man that battled cancer for two years.

In the two year he battled cancer he never felt sorry for himself. Instead he focused on living each day. In the words of his friends "Trey never wanted to be viewed as sick or weak", which he never was. His life and battle left a lasting impression on us all.

Close to the end of Trey's life Lea and I would pray with him every night. Each night I would ask Trey if there was something he would like me to pray for. He would always respond "Pray for Becky, others who are sick and pray that I have a good day tomorrow dad." I would always agree but would always ask "Trey was today a good day?", which he would promptly reply "yes." On his last night on this earth we went through the same routine, although Trey was took weak to speak so he would just nod his head. On that night I asked him "Trey do you want me to pray that you have a good day tomorrow?" He shook his head "yes." I then asked "Trey was today a good day?" Trey shook his head "yes."

Here is a kid that could control little in his life. He could not control his cancer, the effects it was having on his body. But the one thing he could control was his attitude and he choose to make every day a good day. My prayer for each of you is to choose the same. Choose to make every day a good day as each day is a gift from God.
